Twisted Retro Rally

Written · +1 token

“I stopped playing once I felt I had seen the main combat loop. The destruction is fun, but after a while the fights started to feel a little repetitive. The basic controls were clear, but weapon selection, pickups, and current objectives…”

How it works

  1. 01

    Post your build

Set what you'll pay per review. Your free tokens cover the first one, and it's live in a couple of minutes.

  2. 02

    Players pick it up

Reviewers browse the board and claim what they want to play. Nobody is assigned your game.

  3. 03

    Read what happened

Written notes, a recorded playthrough, or a live stream. You approve it, the tokens move, and it's yours to act on.

Why it works

Good reviews keep the board moving.

Every accepted review is paid from a game's budget. When a game has paid for every review it can, it leaves the board and the next game in line takes its place. So a careful review pays you and makes room for someone else's game. The developer whose game just left comes back to review, earns tokens, and puts theirs back up.

That loop only turns if people give as well as take. Holding tokens and never reviewing doesn't help the site, and it doesn't help you: the board slows down and there's less for anyone to claim, yourself included.

Tokens hold their value for as long as the reviews here are worth reading. Developers want them because the feedback is good, reviewers earn them because the feedback is good, and the same tokens change hands again and again, in playtests and on the market. A Reddit thread can't promise you'll get anything back for your time. Here, the reward is held in escrow before you start playing.

Trying to get tokens you didn't earn, in any way, gets the account banned. The rules

Why there's a token market

Good feedback is a skill. Here, it gets paid.

Playing a build properly takes an evening, and writing useful notes takes longer. The tokens a reviewer earns here sell to developers for real money, so the playtesters who are good at this keep coming back. That is why the reviews here are worth reading.

The market opens country by country, so buying and selling may not be available where you live yet. Posting, reviewing and earning tokens work everywhere, and stay free.

Opening by country

Not open where you live yet?

Where the market is open, developers buy tokens with SOL and playtesters sell the tokens they've earned. If it isn't open in your country yet, leave an email and we'll tell you when it is.

What would you use it for?

One email, only about this. No newsletter.

What we'll hold to

  • Earning stays free, and stays the main way in.
  • Buying is a way to skip the wait, never a way to get in.
  • We email this list each time the market opens in a new country.

Outside the countries where it's open, tokens have no cash value. None of this is a commitment. Terms of Service.

FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes. Posting, reviewing and earning are free and stay free. No credit card needed, ever, and no identity verification.

Do I have to review before I get reviews?

You post first. Our algorithm decides whether a brand-new account's first game goes live straight away or waits until its developer has had one review approved. It only holds it while games are waiting for reviewers, which is what keeps reviews coming for every game, yours included. After one approved review you post future playtests freely as long as you have the tokens, and reviewing is how you keep your games funded.

How many reviews will I get?

There's no cap. Your game's budget pays for its reviews, and with refill on it tops up from the reviews you write, so it keeps going for as long as you do.

Do tokens have cash value?

Where the token market is open, yes. You can sell tokens you've earned to developers at a price you set, and you're paid in SOL straight to your wallet. Everywhere else, tokens have no cash value: they're a bounty for a review of someone's game, and you spend them to post your own playtest.

What stops playtesters from spamming low-effort feedback to farm tokens?

Developers approve or reject each review. If your feedback doesn't meet the posting's requirements (the dev sets the bar in the description), the dev rejects it and no tokens move.

Rejections don't just end there. Every rejection automatically queues for moderator review. If the moderator sides with the reviewer (your feedback was substantive and the dev was being unfair), the tokens are released to you. If the moderator sides with the dev, the rejection stands.

So: substantive feedback still gets the tokens, even when a dev is stingy. Low-effort farming doesn't.

What happens if someone cheats?

Trying to cheat the system to get tokens you didn't earn, in any way, will get you banned. That includes running more than one account, trading reviews with people you know, submitting padded or generated reviews, and gaming the queue. We may ban any account at any time if we detect malicious behaviour on it or on accounts linked to it. When an account is banned, every token left on it is forfeited and not refunded.

What does posting cost?

Posting costs 1 token on top of the budget, and one accepted review gives it back — on every posting still owed one, not one review each.

Our algorithm decides whether a brand-new account's first game goes live straight away or waits for one review from its developer. It only holds it while games are waiting for reviewers, and it's built to keep good, repeat reviews coming for every game, yours included. After one approved review you post freely, as long as you have the tokens.

Can I buy or sell tokens?

Yes, in the countries where the token market is open. Developers buy tokens at $1 each, paid in SOL. Playtesters sell the tokens they've earned at their own price and are paid the moment they sell. It's opening country by country.

Outside those countries, tokens have no cash value and can't be bought or sold. They stay on Get Playtests, as a bounty for a review of someone's game.
